Can it ever be finished?

It is a tough task for many, managing a garden. For those working 50+ hours a week, with a family and commitments it can be extremely difficult to find time to tend to your garden – especially if it is a decent size. Let us imagine, though, that you finish your garden. The plants are done, the beds are laid, the grass is cut and perfectly finished and it is looking as picturesque as any garden on the Chelsea flower show. Aside from the occasional trim – you’re done. But what then?

Seasonal changes are massive, of course. When you are finished in one season you will quickly find work piling up again. Plants will die, weeds will sprout and bulbs will need replanting. Throughout the summer you will need to water your charges every few days, maybe more depending on the plant itself. In answer to my question – no, it can never be finished. It can be “more” finished than when you started, but the garden is a full time commitment.
