Gardening is a time consuming process no matter who you are. In this day and age there are so many things that compete for your time, energy and money and gardening is no different. It can be an expensive way to spend your time and also one that requires an enormous amount of time to get off the ground. People will sometimes tell you how easy it is to get going but the truth is that gardening is becoming more and more marginalised and elitist as the years have passed by. Gone is the down to earth Gardener’s World or Ground Force opening up gardening to the masses on a friday night.
Now all we have is the Chelsea flower show. Now all we have is the Queen visiting, the Princes showing up and various well spoken people showing off their expensively assembled gardens that have taken months to build and perfect. That is not accessible to the masses.
